My Work: 'Simple Charms'

Just an hour's drive from the city of Makassar (Indonesia, Sulawesi), you’ll find yourself in the peaceful Rammang Rammang nature reserve. The area is filled with mangroves, towering limestone cliffs, and lush greenery — a perfect place for a close connection with nature.

As a photographer, Rammang Rammang holds a special appeal. The village, best reached by boat, offers countless opportunities to capture unique images. Gliding along the calm river, surrounded by massive karst mountains, we were welcomed into a place that feels worlds away from the city. The village itself has a simple charm, with traditional cottages often set on stilts above the water, and fishing ponds that reflect the locals' way of life.

The caves and limestone formations here are extensive, making Rammang Rammang one of the largest karst areas globally.
